All commercial sinks no matter how small produce FOG (Fats, Oils and Grease). As waste water cools in busy plumbing systems the FOG hardens and causes blockages, malodours and costly downtime. In addition, Section 16 (1) of the Public Health Act 1890, requires all food operators to restrict FOG from entering public sewers and drains. This is achieved by installing an approved grease interceptor (or trap) which prevents FOG from entering the sewer. This is where Biotrap comes in….

HOW IT WORKS

As waste water enters the BIOTRAP® the internal (stainless steel) baffles reduce the flow allowing the water to cool quickly. FOG then rises to the surface of the trap and solidifies while food particles sink to the bottom. Waste water with the FOG removed can safely enter the public sewer.

BENEFITS

There are no moving parts, filters or bags that need to be changed. Biotrap requires no daily maintenance by staff, doesn’t consume electricity and can be retrofitted in almost any kitchen. The airtight lid (on internal models) prevents odours or liquid leakage.

DESIGN, INSTALLATION, AND MAINTENANCE

All grease traps must be sized, manufactured and installed in strict accordance with I.S. EN 1825 parts 1 & 2. Correctly sizing a grease trap requires an extensive survey of the food service establishment to determine flow rates, covers per day, water temperatures etc. We offer a free nationwide sizing service and will ensure your new Biotrap is installed and maintained to the highest industry standards. Because every Biotrap is made to order (within 10 working days) the unit can be fabricated to fit almost anywhere- above or below ground, internal or external.

MAINTENANCE PLAN

Our preventative maintenance plans keep busy plumbing systems working like new and ensures our valued clients are compliant with Local Authority and Irish Water regulations. Monthly service visits allow us to closely monitor the performance and volume of each grease trap and ensure it is emptied BEFORE reaching full capacity. Local Authority inspectors have easy access to all maintenance records, inspection reports and waste disposal certificates which are safely stored onsite in the customers compliance manual (and online.)
